Welcome, how can we help you?
The Alphonso variety of mangoes grown across Ratnagiri district and sindhudurg district in Maharastra, India is called locally as Hafoos. No, it is not a made up word, but the actual colloquial name with which people across the Kokan coast fondly call the Alphonso
All four names are what we at HafooschiAamrai.com classify our product categories. Every fruit bearing Hafoos tree has the capacity to have all four categories on the same tree. Differentiated based only on their sizes, these categories are named as
@size no.1 avg wt 250 to 275 gm, (ek number / star / diamond)
@size no.2 avg wt 225 to 250 gm, (gold)
@size no.3 avg wt 200 to 225 gm, (silver)
@size no 4 avg wt 180 to 200 gm, (bronze /Avg)

The entry level Hafoos category, which is the one of the two most commonly sold categories of Hafoos ranges from 180 – 200 gms and is everyone’s favorite product season after season. As it is most affordable, it is the most commonly sought after size and that is why we call is “bronze”. Simply translated it means “Favorite” or “Choice” as reflected by the speed with which large quantities of this category fly off the shelf.
The next category also happens to be amongst the top sellers as far as Hafoos mangoes are concerned. At 200-225 gms, Silver is a notch up from Bronze and fetches better prices for farmers and fewer bargains for customers as it is slightly more fuller and usually kept on prime displays by vendors. Simply translated “Silver” means “Better” and arguably this is the better deal as you get more mango for your money.
Next in line is the higher ranking category of “Gold “. While silver and bronze make nearly 75% of any Hafoos trees crops, a substantial number also end up growing to weights within the range of 225 – 250 gms w. The most pleasing of sizes, this category has more flesh to bone ratio as compared to the other two categories. It often grows alone on one fork of a branch, ensuring it gets all the nutrients it needs from the tree and grows into a truly golden fruit, and thus the name “Sona” which means “Gold”. It is usually considered as a couple’s treat as it normally is sufficient for 2 mango-loving adults and it is a grade which is been choose for export in uk , usa, uae and other asian markets like singapore
Last but by no means the least, is “Ek Number” also known as Star or Diamond. The top most categories in terms of weight and overall size, is “Ek Number”. Simply translated as “Number One” or “Numero Uno”, this category is easily 250-275 gms and above. However it is a rare category and tends to be less than 2-3 % of any organic farm or tree. With saffron gold girth that is a rare sight, this mango is can become a family desert all by itself.
Imagine you are buying your favourite Hafoos mangoes from your corner-store. It takes 8-9 pairs of hands for the mango to get from the farmer to you. Now imagine a window right at home which opens into a mango farm. You pick the mangoes directly or get the farmer to pluck them for you. This is nearly what happens on Hafooschiaamrai.com.
Before we receive your order, we have a general understanding of how many mangoes are to be plucked in the next 24-48 hours by the organic farmers we have tied up with. As soon as your order hits our system, we inform the farmers in our network of the required quantity and category. Those with necessary quantity available register their interest to fulfill the order and accordingly on first-come-first-serve basis, farmers are able to meet the recursion that has been raised.
These farmers then put the mangoes through rigorous cleaning and quality control measures which basically prepare the mangoes for packing.
